Be yourself; Everyone else is already taken.

— Oscar Wilde.

When your first born reads to his first born it is pure bliss. My son has been reading to his daughter since she was in the womb. She can recite Dr. Seuss books and has a vivid imagination. She is two years old and has a large vocabulary. The power of reading aloud cannot be overstated.

I am revisiting the idea of getting an EdD through Brandman. The time it takes to earn it and the cost are what has me at a standstill. I toss around the fact that I miss seeing my family in Wales and I need to use money for travel. I am in the process of seeking publishers for both a children’s book and a memoir.

I cannot wait for this year to end, so a new year can bring hope. Hugging someone will be a cherished act. I want to finish my book(s) and travel again. In the remaining days of 2020 I am looking at scrutinizing my bucket list to sift out what is possible and doable. If I keep it short and focused, I can scratch off the most important. Here I go…..

I am setting intentions for the new year, with hope, commitment, determination and faith I intend to: see my book get published, stick to an exercise routine, read more books, pursue professional development opportunities, make new friends, cook healthy food.

I have my 3 year old granddaughter for the weekend. I woke up at 6:30 to her staring at me. She smiled and said, “Did you have a good sleep? Let’s play, grandma.” Who can resist the call to play? I actually looked forward to getting up from the cozy warmth of my bed to have make believe tea. She reminded me of the benefits of taking time to play. I am eager to spend the day with this tiny lover of life.

I retired from Elementary Education and now teach an online Masters Degree course in Literacy for pre-credential teacher candidates. I also supervise teacher candidates for two universities. I am a teacher, a mentor, and a writer. I collect resources from various sites and articles to assist my teacher candidates. I am happy to share them with teachers, students, homeschool parents. I will add to them routinely.
